Deck and timber staining Melbourne

Decks and timber, brought back to life.

Grey, dry or flaking timber looks tired and wears out faster. We clean, sand and stain, oil or paint decks, pergolas, screens and other outdoor timber across Melbourne's northern suburbs.

What's included

The right coating for each piece of timber.

Outdoor timber needs a coating that suits how it's used and how much sun and rain it gets. A deck you walk on needs something different from a pergola or a front screen.

01

Decks

Decks are cleaned, sanded where needed and coated in a deck oil or stain that protects the timber and keeps the natural grain if you want it.

02

Pergolas and verandahs

Posts, beams and rafters are prepared and stained or painted, with careful work around roofing and fixings.

03

Screens and timber fences

Slat screens, gates and timber fences can be stained for a natural look or painted for a solid colour.

04

Weathered and grey timber

Grey or dried-out timber is cleaned and prepared to bring back its colour before a new coating goes on.

    Look at the timber

We check the timber type, condition and existing coating, talk through stain, oil or paint, and send a quote.

  2. 02

    Clean

Dirt, mould and loose coating are cleaned off so the new finish can soak in or bond properly.

  3. 03

    Sand and repair

Rough or flaking areas are sanded, and you'll know about any soft or damaged boards.

  4. 04

    Coat

The chosen stain, oil or paint is applied in suitable weather and left to dry before the area is used again.

Pricing guidance

What affects the cost.

Timber work is priced mainly on the area of decking or the number of posts, beams and panels, the condition of the timber, how much sanding is needed, and whether you choose stain, oil or paint.

Removing an old failing coating takes longer than recoating sound timber. After a free site visit you get a written, itemised quote and advice on how often the finish will need maintaining.

Helpful answers

Questions homeowners ask.

Should I stain, oil or paint my deck?

Oils and stains soak into the timber and show the grain, and they're easy to maintain. Paint gives a solid colour but needs more preparation when it's recoated. We'll recommend what suits your deck.

How often does a deck need recoating?

It depends on the product, how much sun the deck gets and how heavily it's used. Exposed decks generally need more frequent maintenance coats.

Can grey timber be restored?

Often, yes. Cleaning and sanding can bring back much of the timber's colour before a new stain or oil goes on.

When can we use the deck again?

Once the coating has dried. We'll tell you how long to keep off it, which depends on the product and the weather.

Do you give free quotes for decks and timber?

Yes. Call 0452 219 991 or email photos of the timber to get started.
